Office Suites and Productivity Software

Office suites and productivity software are often the foundation of most computer skills as they consist of many of the tools most employees use on a daily basis. Office suites are bundled productivity software such as the Microsoft Office suite which consists of many applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive, OneNote, Teams, Yammer and SharePoint. Another popular office suite is Google’s G Suite which consists of Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms and Hangouts.

Sending emails, writing articles, creating presentations, these are some of the core tasks most employees have to do at any business, and more often than not these tasks are completed using these office suites. There aren’t a lot of jobs that don’t require the use of some of these tools which is why making sure you have adequate knowledge of how to use these tools is so important to ensure you have the necessary skills for employability. You can find free courses that will train you how to use some of these applications on the National Careers Service website here.

A streamlined database will allow data to be accessed much easier, thus allowing the business as a whole to run much smoother. This is why businesses want to hire employees with good knowledge of how to create and manage efficient databases, and therefore why it is an essential skill to have on your CV. Many databases are created using Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets which further shows why having good knowledge of the aforementioned office suites is essential.
